Philippine’s Queen of All Media is taking a huge leap for her career! She’s signing in on a new project, and it’s in Hollywood, no less!
According to Inquirer, Kris Aquino will have a role in the film adaptation of the best-selling romance-comedy book by Kevin Kwan aptly called “Crazy Rich Asians”. Big-time studio Warner Brothers will release the movie.
It remains unclear what Kris’ role will be but she will be portraying an Asian princess either of Bruniean or Malaysian descent.
On Easter Sunday, the Queen of All Media took to her Instagram account to share bits of details about her latest endeavor. She shared that work on television became scarce for her for a while because of her political ties, and she admitted to struggling because of this.
Kris shared how Jhett Tolentino, an acclaimed producer with a Tony and a Grammy under his belt, reached out to her through Congressman Len Alonte and Nene Chan on March 23, 2017.
He asked her if she’d be willing to audition for a new Hollywood movie that’s about to come out. The catch? She was given a 72-hour time frame only to submit her audition reel.
Since she had nothing to lose by trying, Kris filmed her audition scenes and video bio at the Manila Peninsula, and submitted her test reels.
The Queen of All Media also shared that she had to pass 5 levels of strict scrutiny after her audition and before she was finally offered a role.
Director Jon M. Chu, who gave his word that the romantic-comedy movie will feature an all-Asian cast, helms the film.
The story revolves around Nick Young, a professor based in New York who comes from an old money, mega-wealthy family in Singapore, and his girlfriend, Rachel Chu, who has no idea of just exactly how rich Nick is.
